Running over bridges – Pittsburgh

On Sunday May 7th 2017, I ran my 8th marathon in 7 months. I went to Pittsburgh for the first time over the Christmas break.  I loved it.  The bridges.  The people.  The food.  The air.  Ok, not the air.  The city though, is just picturesque. So when I had the chance to run the marathon, I jumped on the opportunity.  The Pittsburgh Marathon sponsored by Dick’s Sports was great.

Arriving a few days before, of course I had to get my bib at the Expo.  I recommend staying at The Westin Downtown.  It’s steps away from the start and finish.  The race is separated into four corrals; A, B, C, D.  The start time was 7:00, but depending on which corral you’re in, you could be starting as late as 7:45am.  The race includes their Half Marathon and a Marathon relay.

The race gave you the opportunity to see most of the city and a few of the cool bridges.  Some sources say they have over 1000 bridges, so there’s no way to see them all.  The race is a Boston Qualifier and a USA Track & Field certified course.  Yes, Official.

I had a great time running this race.  It was supposed to rain, but it didn’t.  The weather was almost perfect and I got thru it pain and injury free.  I’m looking forward to running this race again next year.
