Rolex Gold Paul Newman Oyster Goes For$3.7 Million And Becomes The Most Expensive Daytona Ever Sold At Auction

“The Legend” as it’s known in circles of watch collectors sold yesterday for $3.7 million.  That was over double the estimated sale of $800,000 – $1,600,000.  This is proof that rare Rolex pieces are still in high demand after a few record breaking Daytona’s sold in recent years.

They saved the best for last.  Lot 237 of a two-day auction in Phillips Geneva location.  The Ref. 6263 caseback stamped 6239, “An exceedingly rare, highly important and very attractive yellow gold chronograph wristwatch with “lemon” grené dial, white graphics and bracelet” was obviously the highlight of a very important and successful auction filled with timeless gems…no phun intended.  The legend really became a legend last night.
