Hublot is a Swiss luxury watchmaker founded in 1980 by Italian Carlo Crocco. The company currently operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of France’s LVMH. In 1980.

History:

A scion of the Italian Binda Group dynasty, best known for making Breil watches, Carlo Crocco left the company in 1976 to strike out on his own and create a new watch company. Thus came to the existence Hublot or Youblow as French say it. The company soon created the world’s first rubber strap for wrist watches.

Big Bang Ferrari Unico Carbon 45 mm:

 

A limited edition of 500 pieces, this 2015 release in Hublot’s Big Bang Ferrari series comes in a micro-blasted white ceramic case and a carbon fiber bezel.  The case is fitted to a Schedoni leather strap inside is a Hublot manufacture caliber, the UNICO 1241.  The specific type of ceramic used by Hublot is “zirconium oxide” ceramic.

Functions:

Apart from the basic functions of telling hours, minute, seconds, date, a separate dial for displaying the minutes.

Features:

Among its features we have carbon fiber bezel weighing half as much as aluminum yet three times stronger, carbon fiber has the highest weight to strength ratio of any material.

Then comes the strap which is available in one color:

  • Black with red sewing on rubber.

The strap is composite resin. Resin is a synthetic material that is much like a type of varnish or hard plastic. Resin is lightweight and strong, and it can also be colored like plastic.  The inner casing crystal is Sapphire with interior/exterior anti-reflective coating. The Dial has the crystal sapphire the Ferrari applique and is rhodium plated.  The watch hands are polished, black nickel and aluminum.

The movement or inner working of the watch is UNICO manufactured automatic fly-back chronograph with column wheel. The watch offers a power reserve of 3 days.  As usual the watch is water resistance of 100 meters.

[1]In 2012 Hublot became the official high-end timepiece maker of Ferrari. The Big Bang Ferrari watches quickly became hot sellers and in 2013 Hublot added to the Ferrari collection with new models that emphasized the “material” strength of Hublot including an all-carbon fiber version, a version in a totally ceramic case, as well as a model with a red tinted sapphire crystal.
